Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant tax laws and financial regulations. The role involves managing accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, inventory accounting, and financial analysis tailored to the trading industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting:
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure proper documentation.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/local GAAP.
- Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee the processing of vendor invoices, payments, and customer billing.
- Monitor aging reports and ensure timely collections and disbursements.
- Inventory & Cost Accounting:
- Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure accurate valuation.
- Monitor COGS, import costs, and landed costs related to trade operations.
- Compliance & Audit:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, VAT, customs duties, and other statutory requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors and support internal audits.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization in financial operations.
- Contribute to the development of internal controls and accounting policies.
- Team Support:
- Guide and mentor junior accountants and assist in team development.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure financial accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent is a plus).
- Minimum 1-3 years of UAE experience in accounting, preferably in a trading or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
