Junior Architect

Role overview
Support design development and project delivery under senior architects’ supervision; produce drawings, technical documentation, and coordinated models to meet design intent, code requirements, and client needs while learning professional workflows and office standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with conceptual and schematic design: prepare sketches, diagrams, and presentation boards.
• Produce and update construction drawings (plans, sections, elevations) and details using CAD/BIM.
• Model and coordinate in Revit/ArchiCAD; maintain drawing standards and layering.
• Prepare permit and planning submission packages; research applicable codes and regulations.
• Produce material boards, schedules, and specification drafts.
• Coordinate with consultants (M&E, structural, landscape) and incorporate feedback.
• Support site visits, record as-built conditions, and assist with site inspections.
• Maintain document control: versioning, file management, and transmittals.
• Assist in cost estimating and respond to RFIs under supervision.
• Learn office workflows, QA/QC procedures, and client communication best practices.

Required skills & qualifications

• Degree: BArch, MArch, or architectural technology diploma.
• Experience: 0–3 years in an architecture office or relevant internships.
• Software: Revit or ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator); basic knowledge of BIM workflows.
• Technical: understanding of building regulations, construction detailing, and material systems.
• Skills: strong graphic and technical drafting skills, spatial design ability, attention to detail, time management, and effective written/verbal communication.
• Portfolio: clear demonstration of design thinking, technical drawings, and software competence.

Desirable

• Familiarity with sustainable design principles, local planning processes, and construction site experience.
• Knowledge of Rhino/Grasshopper, Lumion/Enscape, or other visualization tools.

Typical metrics / KPIs

• Timeliness and accuracy of drawing deliverables.
• Number of drawing revisions and RFI turnaround time.
• Quality of model coordination (clash reports / issues found).
• Contribution to successful permit submissions and client presentations.
