Junior Backend Developer

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Back-End Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the senior engineering team to learn and understand the existing systems, processes, and technologies. The main goal of this position is to shadow the senior engineers, learn best practices and gradually take over their tasks and responsibilities.
Responsibilities:

• Assist the senior software engineer in their day-to-day activities and actively participate in design discussions, code reviews, and project meetings.
• Learn and understand the existing back-end systems, including architecture, databases, and APIs.
• Collaborate with the senior engineer to develop new features, enhance existing functionality, and resolve bugs in the applications.
• Gain hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining DevOps practices, including automated deployments, continuous integration, and monitoring.
• Assist in writing clean and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Learn to optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Work with the team to identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and other technical issues.
• Gain exposure to cloud infrastructure and services to support scalable and reliable applications.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Contribute to the development of technical documentation, ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is not a prerequisite for this position.
• 1 year of practical experience in back-end development, specifically with Python (Django) frameworks.
• A passion for software development, self-motivation, and a proactive attitude.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and debug complex issues.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and development methodologies.

Good to have

• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and tools (e.g Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
