Job Summary
The Civil Engineering Auditor is responsible for conducting technical, quality, and compliance audits for civil engineering projects. The role ensures that all construction activities, materials, and documentation meet the required standards, design specifications, and regulatory guidelines. The auditor identifies deviations, assesses risks, and recommends corrective actions to improve overall project quality and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Compliance Audits
- Conduct comprehensive technical audits of civil works to ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, IS codes, and contract conditions.
- Review and verify work quality, materials used, and construction methodologies.
- Audit contractor performance and ensure compliance with industry and organizational standards.
Documentation Review
- Review project documents such as DPRs, BOQs, estimates, tender documents, RA bills, measurement books (MB), and test reports.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of all site and office documentation.
Site Inspections
- Perform regular site visits to inspect ongoing construction activities, structural elements, and safety practices.
- Verify workmanship, material quality, and alignment with design specifications.
- Validate quantities executed on-site against contractor billing and measurement records.
Cost & Quantity Verification
- Cross-check BOQ quantities and measurements and detect excess billing or improper material usage.
- Analyze cost variances and highlight discrepancies in project billing or procurement.
Risk Identification & Mitigation
- Identify deficiencies, potential risks, quality issues, and safety concerns during audits.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions and ensure follow-up until closure.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare clear and detailed audit reports with findings, non-conformities, and suggestions for improvement.
- Present audit outcomes to project managers, contractors, and senior management.
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with project teams, quality engineers, consultants, and contractors to resolve audit-related queries.
- Conduct meetings and follow-ups for closing the audit observations.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the development or improvement of QA/QC processes and audit frameworks.
- Recommend best practices to enhance construction quality and cost-effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, IS codes, construction methods, and quality standards.
- Experience in technical audits, QA/QC, or site execution.
- Proficiency in reading drawings, BOQs, and measurement sheets.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Excel, and QA/QC software (optional).
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in construction auditing, quality assurance, or project monitoring.
- Experience in infrastructure, real estate, road, or industrial projects.
