Overview: This position will join the Brand's North America design team as a Freelance Designer. The candidate will report directly to the Creative Director to create graphic designs for a variety of channels – including retail environments, print collateral, event designs, campaigns, video story boards, etc. The candidate will also partner with the Creative ED, Copy Writer and Marketing teams to brainstorm solutions and discuss edits. The ideal candidate will be design obsessed, self-sufficient in time management, solution-oriented and resourceful – with a keen eye to ensure that brand aesthetics are maintained.
The role will be an ongoing contract position. Talent must be local to New York City, NY - hybrid schedule in office 3 days/week near Flatiron.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the Creative team with graphic design-related needs, including retail environments, print collateral, event designs, campaigns, video story boards, etc.
• Ensure brand aesthetics and design standards are upheld, style guide is adhered to and approved assets are being used.
• Actively participate in team brainstorms and provide ideas.
• Partner with the Creative Director to review ideas and solve design challenges together.
• Partner with the VM Design team to collaborate and review ideas for in-store designs.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to accurately incorporate product assortments into layouts.
• Partner with the CD & ECD to assist on Consumer Engagement design needs (story boards, moodboards, social posts, etc.)
• Responsible for all revisions, including changes to copy and art direction.
• Participate in weekly cross-functional department status meetings.
• Create PDFs of all artwork for interdepartmental review.
• Catalog and organize artwork files (working and final) on the server for future reference.
• Search for images within our DAM system, to help curate image selects for designs.
• Interpret and apply die-lines, type safety, live areas, and trim specifications.
• Collect and hand off organized design files to the Production team.
• Package and deliver final press-ready files, as needed, in compliance with retailer and vendor specifications.
• Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA/BS/BFA degree in Communication Arts or other Graphic Design related field.
• Software Requirements: Mac platform. Adobe Creative Suite expert - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator. Microsoft Office proficient - Teams, Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel. Animation and KeyNote experience a plus, but not required.
• 1-4 years of graphic design experience in luxury, fashion or beauty required. Experience in retail and print preferred.
• Stellar typography skills and aesthetic.
• Desire to think strategically, brainstorm and problem-solve from many angles.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to carefully follow direction.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and team player attitude.
• Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to take direction and work closely with team members.
• Expert knowledge of pre-press and print production (dielines, type safety, lives and trim).
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
