Junior Inspector

Department: Inspection
Reporting To: Inspection Supervisor
Location: OGI – UAE

ROLE PURPOSE

The Junior Inspector is responsible for supporting inspection activities related to drilling equipment, tubulars, handling tools, and associated assets in compliance with DS-1, API, OEM, and client requirements.

The role functions as an entry-level technical position within the Inspection and Quality framework, ensuring accurate execution of inspections, proper documentation, and adherence to OGI’s Quality Management System (QMS). The Junior Inspector works under supervision to develop technical competency while contributing to inspection integrity, traceability, and operational readiness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. 1. Inspection Execution Support

  • Assist in performing inspections on drilling tools, TRS equipment, tubulars, and handling tools.
  • Follow defined inspection procedures, acceptance criteria, and checklists as per DS-1, API, OEM manuals, and OGI SOPs.
  • Support dimensional checks, visual inspection, and basic NDT activities under supervision.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly cleaned, prepared, and identified prior to inspection.
  • Record inspection data accurately in approved formats and systems.
  • Report any visible defects, damages, or discrepancies immediately to supervisors.

2. Documentation & Reporting

  • Assist in preparation of inspection reports, checklists, and records.
  • Ensure all inspection documentation is complete, legible, and traceable.
  • Maintain proper tagging, identification, and traceability of inspected items.
  • Support document filing in accordance with QMS and document control procedures.

3. Quality & QMS Compliance

  • Comply with OGI Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and procedures.
  • Support Quality team during audits by providing inspection records and evidence.
  • Assist in identifying non-conformances and reporting them to supervisors.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities when required.

4. Tools, Equipment & Calibration

  • Ensure inspection tools, gauges, and measuring instruments are handled properly.
  • Verify that equipment used is calibrated and within valid certification.
  • Report any damaged or out-of-calibration equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of inspection equipment.

5. HSE & Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to HSE policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
  • Use appropriate PPE at all times during inspection activities.
  • Report unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety requirements (workshop, yard, rig locations).

6. Learning & Competency Development

  • Actively develop knowledge of DS-1, API standards, and OEM specifications.
  • Participate in training programs, toolbox talks, and competency assessments.
  • Work under guidance of Senior Inspectors to improve technical capability.
  • Maintain personal certification records and training logs.

7. Coordination & Support

  • Coordinate with workshop, operations, and logistics teams for inspection readiness.
  • Assist in mobilization and demobilization of inspection activities.
  • Support supervisors in meeting inspection schedules and priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

· Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field.

· 0–3 years of experience in oil & gas, inspection, or mechanical field

Preferred Certifications

· DS-1 Awareness / Trainee Inspector

· Basic NDT (ASNT Level I preferred)

· HSE certifications (as required by company/site)
