Job Summary

The Junior Interior Designer supports the design team in developing and executing creative, functional, and client-focused interior solutions. This role collaborates closely with senior designers, vendors, and contractors, participates in client meetings, and contributes to project success while developing skills and gaining experience in all aspects of interior design.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with senior team members to support the development of design concepts that reflect the client's vision and project goals.
  • Provide mentorship and support to Design Assistants by reviewing proposals and deliverables (including schedules, materials and sourcing), offering guidance and identifying pain points.
  • Delegate tasks to Design Assistants in a clear and timely manner, ensuring they have the direction and resources needed to meet project expectations and build their skills.
  • Provide clear and honest insights into both budget and timeline, setting a standard of trust and integrity in every project.
  • Assist in space planning, furniture selection, and material sourcing to create bespoke living environments tailored to each client's unique lifestyle and preferences.
  • Oversee the production of design presentations, including concept boards, renderings, and mood boards, to effectively communicate design concepts to clients and team members.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing support in articulating design ideas and solutions to address client feedback and preferences.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction documentation, including plans, elevations, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to source luxury materials, furnishings, and finishes that align with the project's aesthetic and quality requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, assist in resolving design issues, and ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of project documentation, including organizing files and updating project schedules, to support efficient project management and delivery.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow in the field of luxury interior design, actively seeking opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Embrace a collaborative and supportive team environment, offering assistance and support to colleagues as needed to ensure the successful execution of projects.

Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience at a mid-to-large interior design firm
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, MS Suite, Sketchup (or similar 3D modeling software)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of interior design
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer
  • Frequent use of hands for design work and computer tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to navigate construction or client sites safely
  • Ability to review visual materials and distinguish colors and patterns

Pay: $76,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
