Junior Interior Designer

Role Description The Junior Interior Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. This position supports senior designers and project managers with concept development, interior space planning, and selection of finishes, fixtures, and furnishings for residential remodels and custom homes. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing design presentations, assisting with construction drawings and documentation, and coordinating FF&E specifications within project budgets and timelines. The role involves collaborating with architects, construction teams, and vendors, attending client meetings, and participating in site visits and field measurements as needed. The Junior Interior Designer also helps maintain organized project files, ensures design details are accurately communicated, and contributes to a positive, professional client experience.

Qualifications

  • Interior design and space planning skills, with the ability to develop functional, aesthetically pleasing residential layouts.
  • Architecture and construction drawings skills, including familiarity with design documentation and coordination with build teams.
  • FF&E knowledge, including sourcing and specifying finishes, fixtures, and equipment that align with project budgets and design standards.
  • Proficiency with design and drafting software (e.g., Revit, SketchUp, or similar) and basic Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Interest or experience in residential remodeling, design-build environments, and local building codes and standards is a plus.
