Junior IT Specialist

Job Title: Entry-Level IT / Security Administrator

Location: Rockwall, Texas

Type: Full-Time, Salaried

Schedule: Standard business hours with a need for occasional work outside of normal business hours. Potential for an on-call rotation.

Work Arrangement: Primarily onsite with some opportunities for remote work.

Job Overview

We are seeking an Entry-Level IT / Security Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about IT, eager to learn, and driven to deliver excellent support with minimal supervision. This role requires strong communication skills, both in-person and through digital channels, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. While an IT-related degree and some experience are preferred, a demonstrated interest in technology and a willingness to grow professionally are essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day technical support for employees and company infrastructure, both onsite and remotely.

- Manage and troubleshoot issues related to Windows operating systems, IT hardware (printers, computers, etc.), and networking.

- Assist in the administration and maintenance of Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS.

- Participate in an on-call rotation to handle urgent technical issues outside of regular business hours.

- Maintain and monitor IT systems to ensure optimal performance and security.

- Write clear and concise documentation for internal IT use and employee support.

- Assist in the deployment and management of Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

- Troubleshoot and support remote user access, including VPN configurations.

- Identify potential security risks and help mitigate threats such as phishing attempts.

Qualifications

- Education:

o IT-related degree preferred, but not required.

- Experience:

o Some hands-on IT experience preferred (e.g., internships, personal projects, or relevant coursework).

- Skills & Abilities:

o Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with staff.

o Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with hardware, software, and networking.

o Knowledge of common cyber threats and experience mitigating these issues.

o Basic understanding of IT infrastructure such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

o Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and remote user support, including VPNs, is a plus.

o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

o Self-motivated and able to work independently with low to moderate supervision.

o Desire to continue learning and stay current with evolving IT technologies.

Nice to Have Experience

- Azure and Microsoft 365:

o Experience in deployment, configuration, and administration.

- Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS:

o Administration and troubleshooting.

- Networking:

o Basic understanding of network protocols, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and managing switches and routers.

- Windows OS Troubleshooting:

o Experience resolving system errors, performance issues, and software problems.

- IT Hardware:

o Ability to diagnose and repair issues with IT hardware like printers, desktops, and peripherals.

- Cybersecurity:

o Knowledge of phishing and other common cyber-attack methods and how to mitigate them.

- Remote User Support:

o Experience troubleshooting VPNs and remote access issues.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
