The Zhou and Hochwagen labs at NYU’s Department of Biology are looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to work as a Junior Laboratory Associate. This position is based in New York, and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.
This position is for a trainee preparing for a research path. It will provide development of technical skills; supervision by senior scientists incorporating individual development plan in support of training goals and those of faculty mentor; and possible publication of research findings during the appointment period.
Projects in the Zhou and Hochwagen lab focus on defining the molecular and evolutionary basis of cell division and chromosome segregation, using the yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Cryptococcus neoformans as primary experimental models. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $58,656. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS in Biology or a related field, and at least 1 year of research experience. A demonstrated background in working with yeast is a plus.
