Job Summary:
The Construction Purchase Assistant will support the procurement team in sourcing and purchasing construction materials, tools, and equipment. The role requires strong knowledge of construction items, excellent follow-up skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel to track purchases, deliveries, and stock levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in procurement of construction materials such as cement, steel, sand, aggregates, blocks, timber, tiles, waterproofing materials, plumbing, electrical, MEP, and finishing items
Prepare and process material Purchase Requisitions (PR), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Purchase Orders (PO)
- Coordinate closely with site engineers, foremen, and storekeepers to understand material requirements
- Track material deliveries to site and follow up with suppliers for delays
- Prepare and maintain material tracking sheets and comparison reports using Microsoft Excel
- Verify supplier delivery notes (GRN) with actual site receipts
- Maintain updated supplier database and price lists
- Support stock control and avoid material shortages or excess wastage
- Assist in cost control by identifying alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in construction procurement or site purchasing
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and brands
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, trackers, reporting)
