Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Procurement Engineer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of UAE experience in construction procurement and possess strong knowledge of sourcing materials, supplier coordination, purchase order management, and project procurement processes. The candidate should be capable of working closely with project teams to ensure the timely procurement of materials and services while maintaining quality and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and subcontractor services in accordance with project requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost-effective procurement.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely issuance and follow-up.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and the store department regarding material requirements.
- Monitor material delivery schedules to ensure projects are not delayed.
- Maintain relationships with approved suppliers and identify new vendors when required.
- Compare supplier quotations and prepare commercial comparison statements.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the accounts department regarding invoices and payment documentation.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, quotations, and supplier databases.
- Track procurement status and prepare procurement reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and UAE construction standards.
- Assist in cost control initiatives and value engineering by identifying alternative materials and suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of UAE experience in procurement within the construction industry.
- Good knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and procurement procedures in the UAE.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with ERP software is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
- Valid UAE driving license is preferred.
