Robolink is a San Diego-based edtech company founded in 2012 that makes robotics kits for education. We believe in the power of learning through collaboration and working towards a common goal in a competition setting. Our latest product is a drone meant to be used in the classroom and at competitions in the education space. We are leading the way in drone education by working with our partners in building the largest educational drone competition in the K-12 space.

Job Title: Junior Product & Visual Designer
Department: Product
Location: Onsite – Chicago, IL
Type: Full-Time
Pay: $70,000 - $95,000/year

Summary:
As a Junior Product & Visual Designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping how students and educators interact with our learning platform, coding applications and the user experience of our drone. You will be working with an interdisciplinary team of designers, engineers, software developers, educators, marketers and salespeople in creating solutions for our educators and students. This newly created position is based in our Chicago office and will be instrumental in establishing and growing our Creative team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design thoughtful user-centered interfaces for our lesson portal, coding platform, drone dashboard and unboxing experience.
  • Create fully developed designs that can be handed off to Software and Web teams for implementation and collaboration along the way to create design solutions.
  • Illustrate in-lesson diagrams and visuals for explaining concepts.
  • Conduct user testing with teachers and students to collect feedback to integrate and iterate on our products.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Education teams to develop user-centered design solutions.
  • Occasionally support print materials for packaging and Sales or Marketing purposes.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in UI/UX design for the web.
  • Fluent in Figma and the Adobe suite, especially Illustrator and Adobe.
  • Passionate about creating products that help students engage with learning.
  • Experience with conducting user testing both in-person and online.
  • Ability to work well with diverse teams across multiple departments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to establish good working relationships and collaborate with coworkers throughout multiple remote locations.
  • Possess some experience with print design or packaging design.

Nice-to-Have:
  • Prior experience in STEM or edtech environment.
  • Experience working with CAD and 3D modeling.
  • Experience with animation and motion graphics.
  • Experience with package design and photography.
