Job Summary
The Junior Quantity Surveyor supports the commercial and project teams in managing project costs, budgets, contracts, and procurement activities for exhibition stands, pavilions, event structures, and interior fit-out projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining quality and client requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuantity Take-Offs
- Measure and quantify materials, including timber, glass, metal, fabric, flooring, graphics, and lighting, from architectural and structural drawings.
- Prepare accurate material schedules and quantity calculations for project execution.
Cost Estimation
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for custom exhibition stands, modular systems, pavilions, event branding, and fit-out works.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Support the preparation of project budgets and cost plans.
Bills of Quantities (BOQ) Preparation
- Compile and maintain Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for client tenders and subcontractor packages.
- Ensure BOQs are accurate, complete, and aligned with project specifications.
Variation Management
- Track and document design changes, client variations, and additional work requests.
- Assist in preparing variation orders and cost impact assessments.
Site Progress Monitoring & Valuations
- Monitor site progress and verify completed work against project milestones.
- Support interim valuations, payment applications, and subcontractor payment assessments.
- Conduct site visits to verify quantities and project status.
Cost Control & Reporting
- Maintain project cost records and assist in preparing cost reports.
- Monitor project expenditures and identify potential cost overruns.
- Support the commercial team in achieving project profitability targets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in quantity surveying, construction, fit-out, events, exhibitions, or related industries.
- Knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, and cost estimation.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Experience in the events, exhibitions, or interior fit-out industry is an advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of exhibition stand construction and event project execution.
- Knowledge of procurement and subcontractor management.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Pay: AED3,500.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
