- Patient Assessment: Conduct initial physical exams, take detailed histories, and formulate provisional diagnoses for admitted or emergency patients.
- Treatment & Monitoring: Manage daily patient care, monitor progress, adjust treatment plans, manage fluid balance, and ensure investigations are carried out.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, write progress notes, complete discharge summaries, and ensure all records are up-to-date.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform routine procedures like IV insertions, catheterization, and collect samples under supervision.
- Emergency Response: Provide immediate care during medical emergencies and support resuscitation efforts.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in daily ward rounds, present cases to senior doctors, and communicate with other specialists.
- Learning & Teaching: Actively engage in case discussions, read around cases, and participate in formal and informal teaching sessions.
Work Environment
- Works in various hospital settings: General Wards, Outpatient Departments (OPD), Intensive Care Units (ICU), and Emergency Rooms.
- Often involves on-call shifts, managing a full caseload overnight, and handling new admissions.
- Works under the guidance of senior residents and attending physicians, ensuring high-quality care.
