Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated Junior Rigger to join our technical character team. You will work closely with Modelers and Animators to create robust, efficient rigs for characters, vehicles, and props. This is a great opportunity for a junior artist to learn high-end studio pipelines under the mentorship of senior leads.
Key Responsibilities
- Rig Construction: Create and maintain basic to mid-level rigs for props, environment assets, and background characters.
- Deformations: Execute high-quality skinning and weighting to ensure smooth mesh deformations.
- Troubleshooting: Address technical issues with rigs as they arise in the animation pipeline.
- Collaboration: Work with the Modeling department to ensure topology is "rig-ready" and with Animators to ensure controls are intuitive.
Technical Requirements
- Software Proficiency: Strong foundational knowledge of Autodesk Maya (industry standard). Knowledge of Blender.
- Scripting: Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python or PyMEL/MEL.
- Anatomy: A solid understanding of human and animal anatomy, including how joints move and muscles deform.
Key Soft Skills
- Problem-Solving: A "technical artist" mindset—finding creative solutions to mechanical constraints.
- Receptiveness: Ability to take direction and constructive feedback from Senior Riggers and Leads.
- Organization: Ability to manage files and naming conventions strictly according to studio standards.
