Role Overview
As a Junior Software Engineer – AI Applications, you will play a key role in building the operational layer of AiiA’s applied AI systems for Crisis24. Your focus will be on delivering robust, scalable features within the Palantir Foundry platform, transforming machine learning capabilities into user-facing tools that drive real-time global intelligence.
You’ll work independently to implement and maintain features end-to-end—using Foundry’s ontology-driven architecture and application development environment. You’ll collaborate closely with machine learning engineers, analysts, and product stakeholders in an Agile Scrum team, contributing to delivering iteratively, and raising the engineering bar through peer reviews.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a startup-style environment and is motivated to shape AI systems that operate in high-stakes, mission-critical domains.
Location: Remote, USA

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement application features within the Palantir Foundry platform, including data integrations, workflows, and user-facing components using Foundry’s Ontology, pipelines, AIP logic, workshop and custom React.
  • Collaborate in Agile/Scrum workflows: participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups; deliver work incrementally and on schedule; raise blockers proactively.
  • Review code and design documents to ensure quality, maintainability, and alignment with engineering standards, particularly in Foundry-based projects and supporting Python/TypeScript components.
  • Partner closely with ML engineers and analysts to translate AI capabilities into scalable, secure, and usable application experiences.
  • Ensure operational excellence by building observable, testable systems and participating in post-deployment validation and monitoring.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes and documentation, helping the team scale efficiently while maintaining high code quality and system reliability.
  • Develop your skills continuously through feedback from senior engineers and by taking personalized Foundry development courses.
Qualifications & Experience

Required:
  • Proven ability to translate complex backends (ML models, pipelines, APIs) into usable interfaces.
  • Experience working closely with ML teams and data engineers.
  • Backend engineering foundation: Python, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, auth, async flows.
  • Familiarity with design systems, state management, and front-end development.
  • Excellent communication skills—your code and your ideas are both easy to read.
  • Take ownership across a broad range of engineering tasks, from prototyping to scaling production systems.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership in a startup-style environment.
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience working with Palantir Foundry, including ontology development, pipelines, and application integration.
  • Experience building production web applications in React and TypeScript.
  • Interest in building tools for human-in-the-loop AI or AI safety workflows.
  • Understanding of data security, risk intelligence, or global operations domains.
  • Ability to translate complex technical results into user-facing solutions.
Information Security

Protect the data and systems of Crisis24 and its stakeholders by adhering to policies, reporting incidents and potential problems, completing regular training, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
