Junior Staff Accountant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to join our team in a hybrid work environment. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various accounting functions. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, supporting financial reporting, and assisting with internal controls. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations to verify account accuracy.
  • Assist with financial report writing, interpretation, and presentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support audit processes by preparing documentation, conducting internal audits, and ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
  • Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Quicken, and other relevant financial tools.
  • Support non-profit accounting practices including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance where applicable.
  • Mentor junior team members by providing guidance on technical accounting issues and best practices.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements related to securities law and governmental accounting standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements in technical accounting areas such as accruals, debits & credits, and cash flow analysis.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a focus on financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and internal controls is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Vantaca, QuickBooks or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting practices is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data through effective report writing and analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
