Position Description






The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is the largest unified trial court in the United States. The Court’s 582 judicial officers and its dedicated workforce of over 4,600 full-time employees serving across 36 facilities work purposefully and seamlessly to achieve the mission to provide equal access to justice to all of Los Angeles County. At the heart of the Los Angeles Superior Court is commitment and collaboration between team members who contribute professional skill sets and meaningful work experiences toward the goal of serving the community at large.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The JusticeCorps Student Professional Worker will work under the supervision of the JusticeCorps Program Director headquartered in downtown Los Angeles. JusticeCorps is an AmeriCorps sponsored program that enrolls university undergraduates from local participating universities to provide service at court-based legal self-help centers in Los Angeles County. It is a collaborative project of California Polytechnic University, Pomona; California State University, Dominguez Hills; California State University, Long Beach; California State University, Northridge; the University of Southern California; the University of California at Los Angeles, Occidental College; the staff of the Judicial Council, and the Los Angeles Superior Court. The JusticeCorps Student Professional Worker assignment requires a minimum of 10 hours each week and is anticipated to run from January 2026 to June 2026.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the recruitment of students to the JusticeCorps program for the upcoming 2026-2027 program year.
  • Maintain contact with relevant site supervisors on a weekly basis through regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings.
  • Assist in planning and organizing trainings or special events.
  • Attend meetings with representatives from partner universities as needed.
  • Participate in collaborative partnerships with other campus JusticeCorps representatives, community agencies, and JusticeCorps staff.
  • Assist JusticeCorps staff as needed.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all the following selection requirements at the time of application:
  • Have previously participated in the Los Angeles Region JusticeCorps program as a member or university representative or are a currently enrolled participant
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university, college, community college or trade/vocational school
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Successful completion of sophomore year of college*
  • Completion of sophomore year of college is 60 units completed for semester system -OR- 90 units completed for quarter system.

EVALUATION:
Qualifying evaluation of education, training and experience based upon submitted application and supplemental questionnaire.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants who best meet job-related qualifications will be placed on an eligible list which will remain active for approximately six (6) months and may be invited to participate in a selection interview. Other vacancies may be filled using this list.
