What you will deliver

Strategic fit:

Involved in the development of the NOJV strategy to ensure it remains aligned with the Regional bp strategy

Collaborating closely with the respective JVs to ensure that the NOJV is still in line with the overall JVs strategy.

Sustainability & carbon fit:

Aware of bp’s sustainability framework

Influence the JVs to define a sustainability framework as and where appropriate and support the JVs to reach their sustainability goals.

Reporting NOJVs GHG emissions data through bp system

Joint governance:

Ensure the JVs has a clearly detailed governance structure as well as an effective and efficient process, which is driven as defined.

Ensure that internal approvals (SWOs, etc) and external responses to the JVs are properly and timely provided.

HSE and risk management:

Instigate periodic Exposure Management reviews to test that new exposures to bp are identified, and exposure management actions are on track and effective

Receive, review, and appropriately discuss HSE performance data with the operator.

Share relevant HSE material with the operator, such as studies and incident learnings.

Champion influencing of the JVs on key HSE issues (e.g. recent HIPOs, site safety culture) when appropriate, working through governance channels.

Verify with the relevant Crisis & Continuity Management team that crisis management plans are up to date for how bp will respond to an NOJV incident.

Verify that appropriate HSE measures are in place for deployed secondees when relevant.

Value management :

Ensure new agreements, contracts and dispute settlements related to JVs are negotiated and driven using bp's agreement management practices and standards to protect bp value and reduce bp’s risk exposure.

Identify, evaluate, and support new business opportunities within or related to the JVs (technical, operational, commercial, and business development) which may benefit bp & other shareholders.

Monitor, integrate, and regularly communicate JVs plan delivery and other performance (e.g. HSSE, production, financial, digital product development, throughput, project delivery, operating efficiency) to the bp Abu Dhabi leadership.

Ensure integration of JVs inputs for any forecasts.

Ensure external bp support process to JVs is followed from request until invoice processing

Prepare and work within specified approved budget and DOFA to deliver objectives

Relationship management :

Serve as the key relationship point of contact regarding Operations, Facilities, and HSE for the JVs.

Ensure the NOJV COE posture model is applied to understand bp’s position in the JVs.

Build and manage strong relationships with the JV’s and ADNOC in conjunction with participation from bp SMEs to ensure that bp's position is represented in defining plans, to protect and build bp value, to manage risk exposure and to share learnings.

Contribute to business influencing plan that is built on identified Key Focus Areas (KFAs). Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to influence the JVs and other shareholders and track annual and longer-term plan delivery.

Identify and facilitate areas of cooperation/collaboration (e.g. safety learnings, development/promotion of industry standards, operating efficiencies, digital security).

Communicate and engage with the bp business leadership and bp NOJV Solutions Team to regularly share strategy, performance, key learnings, challenges, and requests for assistance.

Compliance management :

Understand and manage legal/contractual rights and obligations in the JV agreements and other documents that define the NOJV’s requirements and boundaries.

Ensure all required relevant data acquired by the JVs are provided to bp and are accurately distributed and archived within bp.

Ensure that information shared between bp and the JVs are appropriate and within legal boundaries and the boundaries of agreements in place and legal approval has been obtained.

Ensure communication with secondees with regards to contractual obligations is understood in regard to the respective JVs.

People management and organisational capability :

Ensure JVs activities are properly supported by the wider bp with dedicated, shared, and temporary staff (e.g. skills, experience, time dedication).

Facilitate the implementation of bp standards, processes, and best practices across the JVs community for the delivery of JV value and management of risk exposure.

Support delivery of specific training (e.g. ABC, Cyber, E&C Awareness) for JV secondees and rest of team.

Ensure that secondees have a line manager assigned in ADNOC and an assigned sponsor within bp; verify that appropriate support and direction is provided to secondees, including pre-deployment training.

Ensure all people in my team have clear and meaningful objectives, accountabilities are clearly defined and aligned with the asset/ business plans and deliverables are measurable against plans.

Ensure the bp Abu Dhabi technical team have the capability to represent bp in external interfaces.

Monitor and review my team’s performance (efficiency, consistency, adherence to standards and practices).

Provide input to performance and development conversations with all team members; recognize and reward strong contributions and behaviours.

Review succession plans and assure required capability levels across the team.

Capture key learnings from JVs and transfer within bp.

Utilise the bp NOJV Solutions Team for guidance, support, and best practice.

Requirements

  • This position is open for UAE national only. We also would like to emphasize that candidates of all genders are welcomed too.
  • Relevant university degree, Engineering or Science Degree. An advanced degree (e.g. Masters) would be an advantage.
  • Min. 10 years of experience within Oil & Gas Industry Commercial skills
  • Excellent business acumen and performance management
  • Able to stimulate the JV/ operator to embrace continuous improvement
  • Able to link the JVs purpose with the business strategy

Leadership & people skills

  • Excellent relationship skills to successfully influence the JV/ operator
  • Leading the shareholder team and manage connectivity and relationships at all levels that are interacting with the JV/ operator
  • Able to build capability in shareholder team and with asset management peers

Technical skills

  • Excellent understanding of risk assessment and exposure management
  • Good understanding of compliance requirements with regards to JVs
  • Able to manage multiple activities and to quickly respond to changing business priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Prioritize work in a high activity environment.
  • Experienced with Microsoft office suite
  • Arabic language
  • Experience working with other IOCs and NOCs
