Compensation Range: $48,334.25 – $54,571.89 (DOE)
Start Date: Summer 2026
Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a passionate and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our team at the AMS Power Campus in Mesa for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Kindergarten Teacher plays a critical role in helping scholars build strong foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development. The ideal candidate will create a structured and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning while ensuring students develop the academic skills needed for long-term success.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-informed teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Arizona academic standards.
Build strong foundational skills in early literacy, phonics, writing, and mathematics.
Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and student interventions.
Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
Implement engaging instructional strategies that promote student participation, exploration, and early critical thinking skills.
Classroom Culture & Student Development
Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
Foster a classroom culture that promotes kindness, responsibility, and a love of learning.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices.
Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with AMS instructional priorities.
Family Engagement
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home–school partnerships.
Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Education
OR
Valid Arizona teaching certification in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education
OR
Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
Additionally, candidates must:
Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities
Demonstrate a data-driven approach to instruction and student support
Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
