Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

Duties

• Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients to support chefs and dietary staff
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment
• Support meal assembly and plating to ensure timely delivery of nutritious meals to residents or customers
• Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures and adhering to safety regulations
• Help with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying staff of stock levels or shortages
• Support catering events or special meal services by preparing ingredients and assisting with setup
• Serve food to residents or customers in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring excellent service standards

Requirements

• Previous experience in dietary departments, food service, or the food industry is highly desirable
• Familiarity with menu planning, food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety protocols
• Experience working as a dietary aide or in restaurant settings is preferred
• Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation are advantageous
• Knowledge of food handling regulations and safe kitchen practices is essential
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are necessary for success
