Kitchen Assistant

Job Description

As a kitchen assistant – you and one other Kitchen Assistant will work as a team to effectively be the engine of the kitchen. Working under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, your job is to ensure that the kitchen is clean and operational. You will also be involved in preparing ingredients, so it’s a great stepping stone to becoming a line cook or chef.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic; wiping down tables and equipment
  • Making salads and deli items (chicken salad, pasta salad, dressings and vinaigrettes, chopping vegetables, shredding cheese, etc)
  • Washing utensils and dishes throughout the night and making sure they are stored appropriately
  • Cleaning glassware
  • Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients; putting produce, food stock, and deliveries away.
  • Replacing dry ingredients into proper bins bins
  • Organizing dry stock, cooler, and freezer weekly
  • Preparing and executing Boxed Lunches
  • Disposing of garbage and carboard

Requirements

  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to stand on your feet for several hours
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Committed to 5 days a week (Tuesday-Saturday)
  • Understanding the importance of health and hygiene
  • Plenty of stamina
  • A great team player
  • The ability to listen and learn – fast

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
