Duties & Responsibilities of Kitchen Equipment Technician
1. Operation & Maintenance of Kitchen Equipment
- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of all kitchen appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers.
- Ensure proper functioning of control panels, thermostats, timers, and safety devices.
- Clean and maintain appliances to ensure hygiene and efficiency.
2. Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose faults in electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems of kitchen equipment.
- Repair or replace defective parts such as compressors, heating elements, motors, belts, valves, and sensors.
- Perform testing and calibration to ensure optimal operation and compliance with manufacturer standards.
3. Installation & Commissioning
- Install new kitchen appliances, ensuring proper alignment, connection, and calibration.
- Conduct pre-commissioning checks and ensure safety compliance before putting equipment into operation.
4. Preventive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance for all kitchen equipment to minimize downtime.
- Inspect and service components such as filters, drains, cooling systems, and electrical connections.
- Maintain logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance data.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while servicing appliances.
- Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, company HSE standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Report unsafe equipment conditions, gas leaks, or electrical hazards immediately.
6. Coordination & Support
- Work closely with FM Supervisors, Facility Engineers, and other technical teams for integrated maintenance tasks.
- Assist in client site inspections and respond promptly to service requests or complaints.
- Support training of junior technicians or assistants in handling kitchen equipment safely.
7. Material & Tool Management
- Maintain and organize tools, spare parts, and consumables used for kitchen equipment maintenance.
- Request replacement parts and ensure proper storage of sensitive components.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Record all maintenance, repairs, and replacements in service logs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for FM Supervisors or Engineers.
- Maintain accurate records of warranty-covered repairs and consumable usage.
9. Emergency & On-Call Support
- Respond to urgent breakdowns of critical kitchen equipment to minimize disruption.
- Provide after-hours or on-call support as per FM schedules.
- Ensure rapid restoration of essential equipment in kitchens, laundries, and other facilities.
