KITCHEN EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting all kitchen equipment, ensuring that it operates efficiently and safely. Will perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and respond to emergency repair requests. Also involves coordinating with the kitchen staff to ensure minimal disruption to kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inspect and diagnose issues with kitchen equipment (Hot and cool Restaurant), including ovens, fryers, grills, dishwashers, refrigerators, and other related appliances.

2. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

3. Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, thermostats, heating elements, and electrical wiring.

4. Maintain an inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed.

5. Collaborate with kitchen staff to schedule maintenance during non-peak hours to minimize operational disruption.

6. Ensure all kitchen equipment complies with health and safety regulations.

7. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.

8. Provide technical support and training to kitchen staff on proper use and care of equipment.

9. Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and work efficiently to resolve issues.

10. Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs or warranty services.

11. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure that all tools are properly maintained.

12. Performs other duties assigned.

Qualification, Experience & Knowledge

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in equipment maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in maintaining and repairing kitchen equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment and appliances, including their operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems as they relate to kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
  • Availability for on-call duty and emergency repairs outside of regular working hours.
  • Availability to respond to maintenance emergencies outside regular working hours.
