Kitchen & Laundry Technician - InterContinental Bahrain

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen & Laundry Technician to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all kitchen and laundry equipment to ensure seamless hotel operations and compliance with safety standards.

This role is critical in supporting operational excellence across Culinary, Stewarding, and Housekeeping departments.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Equipment Maintenance

• Inspect, maintain, and repair kitchen equipment including ovens, combi ovens, fryers, grills, dishwashers, refrigerators, ice machines, and exhaust systems.

• Perform preventive maintenance as per schedule.

• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and implement corrective actions.

• Ensure proper calibration of thermostats and temperature control systems.

Laundry Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain and repair washers, dryers, steam presses, flatwork ironers, and finishing equipment.

• Monitor steam, water pressure, and drainage systems.

• Troubleshoot electrical panels and motor controls.

General Duties

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports.

• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and fire regulations.

• Coordinate with external contractors when required.

• Support energy conservation initiatives.

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma or certification in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in hotel or industrial kitchen and laundry equipment maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Electrical systems

  • HVAC basics

  • Steam systems

  • Motor controls and PLC basics (preferred)

• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Flexible with shifts and emergency response requirements.
