Scope of Work:
The Kitchen & Bath Designer / Sales Specialist works with homeowners and contractors to design functional kitchen and bath spaces while driving product sales. This role prepares layouts, measurements, and quotes for cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and related materials while guiding customers through product selection and project planning. The position supports projects from initial consultation through order placement while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining strong client relationships.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Consult with homeowners, contractors, and builders to understand project goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Design kitchen and bath layouts using design software and prepare detailed plans, elevations, and renderings when required.
- Prepare and present accurate quotes and estimates for cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and related materials.
- Assist customers in selecting products and materials that meet both design preferences and functional needs.
- Measure spaces for cabinets, tile, countertops, and related installations.
- Process and manage special orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of materials.
- Maintain strong relationships with contractor and builder accounts to support repeat business.
- Provide product demonstrations and guidance on proper use, installation, and maintenance of kitchen and bath products.
- Handle customer questions and concerns professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Maintain accurate project notes, quotes, and orders within company systems.
- Stay informed on product lines, finish trends, and industry developments.
- Assist management with monitoring inventory needs and reporting shortages within the department.
- Represent the company professionally during in-store consultations, customer site visits, and industry events.
Skillset Requirements:
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to create accurate quotes, estimates, and project documentation.
- Proficiency with computer systems and design software (20/20 Design preferred or willingness to learn).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of kitchen and bath products including cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and accessories.
- Ability to read and interpret measurements, plans, and construction drawings.
- Strong communication skills with both retail customers and professional contractors.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in design or related field or 3+ years of experience in kitchen/bath design, cabinet sales, or building materials sales.
- Experience measuring for cabinets, tile, and countertops.
- Valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; experience with design software preferred.
- Experience working with cabinet product lines or similar building material products is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Majority of time spent in a climate-controlled office or design center environment.
- Occasional travel to customer homes, job sites, and contractor locations for consultations and measurements.
- May include periodic travel to conferences, training sessions, or trade shows.
- Position involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting materials up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Fast-paced environment requiring strong multitasking, organization, and customer interaction throughout the day.
- Standard full-time schedule with potential for extended hours during peak business periods.
