Knitwear Technical Designer – Modern Luxury Yarn & Fashion Brand

We’re seeking a Knitwear Technical Designer to merge artistry with precision—creating timeless, modern knitwear patterns that inspire makers worldwide. This is a full-time, on-site/hybrid position based in Aurora, IL.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with the Creative Director to design knitwear patterns from concept to final tech pack.
• Translate sketches and mood boards into detailed, production-ready knitting patterns.
• Develop accurate garment specs: stitch techniques, sizing, and construction details.
• Partner with product teams to select yarns, colors, and fibers aligned with trend and brand vision.
• Incorporate feedback from test knitters to refine patterns for fit, comfort, and aesthetic appeal.
• Maintain cohesive brand identity across collections and releases.
• Manage project timelines to deliver designs on schedule and within budget.
• Stay ahead of fashion and fiber trends to drive innovation and inspiration.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of professional fashion or knitwear design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Knitwear Design or related field.
• Mastery of stitch patterns, garment construction, and finishing techniques.
• Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and 3D garment visualization tools.
• Deep understanding of yarn behavior, fiber content, and color theory.
• Proven ability to translate technical patterns into knitter-friendly instructions.
• Portfolio demonstrating design range, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
