The Learning Center Tutor's primary responsibility is to tutor in Writing, Math, Health Science, Science, study and test taking skills, and/or other subjects, depending on the needs of The Learning Center.
The position involves providing individual or group tutoring, both in-person and virtually, in classrooms or through Supplemental Instruction (SI). The role includes assisting students and community members with computer use and computer-based tutorials. It involves documenting visits, maintaining accurate records, and helping with data collection and reporting. The position also involves participating in tutor orientation, education workshops, and department meetings. Additionally, the job includes promoting The Learning Center across campus, contributing to the development and presentation of workshops or class presentations, helping maintain and improve The Learning Center's resources, and performing other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in subject area(s). The candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse groups. Knowledge, skills, and/or ability to learn to effectively complete all required position duties, including attending required tutor education workshops and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in relevant field or equivalent technical experience is required.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Kodiak College campus in Kodiak, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary staff position. Successful candidates will be placed on the Temporary staff Salary Schedule based on Education and Experience, Grade 77_9.
