The Korey Wise Innocence Project (KWIP) is a program of the University of Colorado Law School dedicated to fighting wrongful convictions and advocating for systemic change. Our mission has three core objectives:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Paralegal to support the Korey Wise Innocence Project’s (KWIP) Legislation Inside program, educational outreach, and legal casework. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that KWIP’s legislative and legal efforts are well-coordinated, responsive, and effective.
Legislation Inside (LI) is one of KWIP’s two core legislative initiatives. Through this program, individuals incarcerated in Colorado state prisons elect representatives who meet weekly via Zoom to learn about the legislative process, provide feedback on proposed bills, and draft legislation of their own. Several of these LI led legislative proposals have successfully passed through the Colorado legislature. The role will serve as the primary coordinator for the LI program, managing weekly meetings, supporting legislative development, and helping ensure the voices of incarcerated individuals are meaningfully integrated into Colorado’s policy landscape.
At the Colorado Law School, we are an engaged, diverse, and welcoming community of students, staff, faculty, and alumni who help one another succeed. Our selective admissions process keeps our student body small, enabling our faculty, staff, alumni, and community to invest deeply in each student’s success. Because we take our responsibility to educate and train future lawyers very seriously, our curriculum, research centers, and experiential learning opportunities are crafted to prepare students for success in today’s changing legal environment.
