About Us:
At Bristol Myers Squibb, we are dedicated to transforming patients’ lives through science. Our EMES team is seeking a talented Kubernetes Engineer to help architect, implement, and maintain highly available, secure, and resilient containerized environments that directly support mission-critical applications impacting human health and patient safety.

Key Requirements:

  • Design and implement Kubernetes-based high availability (HA) architectures for running containers.
  • Manage automated orchestration features (self-healing, scaling, rolling updates, etc.).
  • Enable manual operation during control-plane outages.
  • Reduce the effort required for control-plane maintenance and understand risks related to vendor maintenance.
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of namespaces, TCP/IP stack, and networking concepts to ensure seamless integration with existing environments.
  • Prior experience in a computerized manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.
  • Ensure centralized observability and management interfaces.
  • Leverage strong vendor/consultant support, training, community support, certifications, and online documentation.
  • Utilize templates for faster and more reliable deployments.
  • Meet BMS requirements for endpoint security, monitoring, downtime, backup recovery, OAR, and related operational standards.
  • Integrate with existing EMES ESXi infrastructure to reduce costs and increase resiliency.
  • Provide tools and interfaces to simplify maintenance, adoption, and management.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, audit, and other BMS requirements.
  • Support mixed mode groups (Windows components alongside Linux microservices).
  • Align with the technology stack selected by the EMES team and meet developer storage requirements.
  • Experience designing and implementing systems in mission-critical environments where reliability directly impacts human health and patient safety.
  • Communicate complex concepts to team members with varying expertise.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and improve both personally and within the work environment.
  • Be open to design suggestions and able to constructively argue points.
  • Thrive independently and collaboratively, especially on time-sensitive tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience architecting and operating Kubernetes clusters in production, preferably in mission-critical environments.
  • Deep understanding of HA architectures, automated orchestration, and manual operations in Kubernetes.
  • Experience with centralized observability and management tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ESXi infrastructure and hybrid environments.
  • Strong knowledge of endpoint security, monitoring, backup recovery, and compliance in regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting mixed OS environments (Windows and Linux).
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant certifications (RHCA, CKA, CKAD, etc.) and active participation in the Kubernetes community are a plus.
  • Experience with Redhat OpenShift
  • Experience with CI/CD Pipelines

Why Join Us?

  • Work on systems that directly impact patient safety and health.
  • Be part of a collaborative, innovative, and supportive team.
  • Access to world-class training, certifications, and community resources.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of container orchestration at BMS.
