Our EMES team is seeking a talented Kubernetes Engineer to help architect, implement, and maintain highly available, secure, and resilient containerized environments that directly support mission-critical applications impacting human health and patient safety.
Key Requirements:
- Design and implement Kubernetes-based high availability (HA) architectures for running containers.
- Manage automated orchestration features (self-healing, scaling, rolling updates, etc.).
- Enable manual operation during control-plane outages.
- Reduce the effort required for control-plane maintenance and understand risks related to vendor maintenance.
- Demonstrate sound understanding of namespaces, TCP/IP stack, and networking concepts to ensure seamless integration with existing environments.
- Prior experience in a computerized manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.
- Ensure centralized observability and management interfaces.
- Leverage strong vendor/consultant support, training, community support, certifications, and online documentation.
- Utilize templates for faster and more reliable deployments.
- Meet BMS requirements for endpoint security, monitoring, downtime, backup recovery, OAR, and related operational standards.
- Integrate with existing EMES ESXi infrastructure to reduce costs and increase resiliency.
- Provide tools and interfaces to simplify maintenance, adoption, and management.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, audit, and other BMS requirements.
- Support mixed mode groups (Windows components alongside Linux microservices).
- Align with the technology stack selected by the EMES team and meet developer storage requirements.
- Experience designing and implementing systems in mission-critical environments where reliability directly impacts human health and patient safety.
- Communicate complex concepts to team members with varying expertise.
- Demonstrate a desire to learn and improve both personally and within the work environment.
- Be open to design suggestions and able to constructively argue points.
- Thrive independently and collaboratively, especially on time-sensitive tasks.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience architecting and operating Kubernetes clusters in production, preferably in mission-critical environments.
- Deep understanding of HA architectures, automated orchestration, and manual operations in Kubernetes.
- Experience with centralized observability and management tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
- Familiarity with ESXi infrastructure and hybrid environments.
- Strong knowledge of endpoint security, monitoring, backup recovery, and compliance in regulated industries.
- Experience supporting mixed OS environments (Windows and Linux).
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (RHCA, CKA, CKAD, etc.) and active participation in the Kubernetes community are a plus.
- Experience with Redhat OpenShift
- Experience with CI/CD Pipelines
