Schedule Details: This position works Monday - Friday 3:00pm-10:00pm in Specimen Processing, Core Laboratory There is currently no weekend rotation. 1 holiday per year will be assigned on Day Shift Ideal Candidate will already be familiar with microbiology lab assistant tasks such as waived rapid tests, moderately complex rapid tests, and culture setup on various media. Position will occasionally rotate into the microbiology department to provide operational support as needed on Second Shift
About Us:
ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County. The laboratory performs over 8 million tests annually.
Our Lab services operate state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology. ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, nursing home, and assisted living facilities. Our Pathologists and PhDs work closely with lab employees to monitor quality, as well as identify, access, and implement new technology. The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant – Microbiology Technician (CLA-Micro Tech) is responsible for accurate and efficient receipt, processing, and distribution of laboratory specimens from inpatients, outpatients, and outside clients in Microbiology. The CLA-Micro Tech maintains proficiency of the laboratory and hospital information systems, performs and results waived and non-waived testing. The CLA-Micro Tech processes primary culture specimens by inoculating various growth media, preparing slides for gram smear, and packaging specimens and inoculated cultures for transport to the reference lab. The CLA-Micro Tech acts as a liaison between the laboratory and nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare providers and the reference laboratory.
