Khalifa University and the College of Computing and Mathematical Sciences seek a dynamic and dedicated individual for the position of Senior Lab Engineer in the Computer and Information Engineering (CIE) Department with specialization in Robotics and AI
Position Overview
:
As a Lab Engineer, you will collaborate with CIE Department faculty to support undergraduate Robotics labs in areas such as:

Software control and motion planning for mobile and manipulator robots

Autonomous navigation using sensor fusion (LIDAR, IMU, camera)
-
Robot sensing and SLAM
-
Robotic kinematics, dynamics, and control theory
-
Manipulation and grasping techniques
-
Machine learning and AI in robotics
-
Design, simulation, and testing of robotic systems
Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate with CIE Department faculty involved in the course and organize the lab teaching schedule
-
Instruct assigned lab courses, oversee students’ lab activities, and assess student work
-
Prepare or update the lab manual in accordance with the course curriculum
-
Manage the inventory of laboratory equipment and consumables, as well as lab software.

Ensure that all laboratory activities comply with applicable EHS regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Provide laboratory health and safety inductions for users, and conduct routine maintenance and calibration of equipment to maintain accuracy and efficiency in experimental results.

Support academic and research initiatives of the department and participate in student-related events.

Take part in the ongoing development and modification of undergraduate programs.
Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree in Computer Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, with a strong academic record.

At least 2 years of relevant experience, including proficiency in:

Programming languages: C++, Python
-
ROS2 and simulation tools such as Gazebo, RViz, and visualization pipelines
-
Integration of robotic sensors: IMUs, LIDAR, cameras, encoders
-
Signal processing and real-time control for robotic systems
-
Embedded platforms (e.g., Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson)
-
Quanser platforms and QUARC real-time control software
-
Experience with robotic modelling and control tools such (MATLAB/Simulink)
