Job Overview

The Lab Manager/Research Assistant 2 in the Psychology Department of Georgetown University will be involved in recruiting and testing participants for a grant funded study looking at learning in monolingual and bilingual young children. They will also be trained to work on the collaborative PLAY study.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Running eyetracking and memory flexibility studies and collecting data in the field
  • Coding and collating the dataset, including coding using the R program language for data cleaning and analysis
  • Organize lab meetings and coordinate training and schedules for our undergraduate research team
  • Submitting expense reports related to conferences and inventory management in the lab

Work Interactions

The RA will be closely supervised by the Principal Investigator (PI) and will work closely with the current Ph.D. student. The RA will collect data alongside undergraduates, graduate and other research personnel to visit families in the field and on campus to collect and collate data in a timely manner. The RA will code data for the study and participate in team meetings. The lab manager and PI will review receipts and expense reports for the financial management of the lab. This project will involve a team and the RA will participate in team meetings. The overall responsibility for the project will rest with the PI.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree from a 4-year college.

Preferred

  • Due to the DC metropolitan area’s growing Spanish speaking population and the fact that data are collected in the home and that the study examines differences between monolingual and bilingual children, Spanish speaking skills preferred.
  • Observational coding experience using datayvu software and excel preferred.
  • Current driver’s license preferred.
  • Prior research experience working directly with young children is preferred.

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$17.95 - $26.84

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
