The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a Lab Officer for the Quantum Computing Lab. The successful candidate will support the establishment, operation, and development of a newly established quantum computing research laboratory. The Lab Officer is expected to have a strong background in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields, with hands-on experience in advanced laboratory systems and computational platforms.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, identifying laboratory equipment and infrastructure needs, liaising with vendors, evaluating technical specifications, supporting faculty and researchers in quantum computing research projects, maintaining experimental and computational setups, assisting in experiments and simulations, documenting results, and ensuring a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and operate quantum computing hardware and software systems.
Prepare experimental and computational setups for quantum algorithms, simulations, and hardware-based experiments.
Provide support to researchers and faculty in conducting experiments, simulations, and data analysis.
Generate technical reports and assist in documenting experimental and computational results.
Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, software licenses, and computational infrastructure.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of sensitive electronic and cryogenic equipment, as applicable.
Adhere to all University policies and regulations, maintaining safe working procedures in the laboratory environment.
Strong technical knowledge in quantum computing systems, experimental physics setups, or advanced computational platforms.
Experience with laboratory instrumentation, electronics, and high-performance computing (HPC) environments is highly desirable.
Familiarity with quantum programming frameworks and tools is an advantage.
Strict adherence to laboratory safety and operational procedures.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively within a research team and support colleagues in project-related tasks.
Willingness to assist supervisors and team members with related research or operational duties.
Experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of laboratory or computational research equipment.
Experience in conducting laboratory experiments, simulations, or computational research.
Proficiency in data analysis, technical report preparation, and research documentation.
Prior experience in a university or research institute laboratory is highly desirable.
