Job Title: Lab Technician

Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Valid Paramedical Council Registration is mandatory.
Skills:
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and health regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Collection & Preparation:
- Collect and prepare samples (blood, urine, soil, water, etc.) for testing and analysis.
- Ensure all samples are properly labeled and stored in compliance with safety standards.
Conducting Laboratory Tests:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests (e.g., blood tests, chemical analyses, microbiological cultures).
- Operate laboratory instruments and equipment such as microscopes, spectrometers, and centrifuges.
- Monitor test results and promptly report any abnormalities or discrepancies to senior staff.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Accurately record test results in laboratory logs or computerized systems.
- Analyze data and prepare test reports.
- Assist in interpreting results under the supervision of senior technicians or scientists.
Maintenance of Equipment:
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and precision.
- Perform routine equipment checks and troubleshoot basic malfunctions.
Laboratory Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and sterile laboratory environment.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, NABL).
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and reagent inventory.
- Requisition new supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with laboratory team members, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
- Communicate findings and results to senior lab technicians, scientists, or physicians as required.
