Lab Technician - Pre Production (2nd Shift)

Dr. Tavel Optical Group is looking for a 2nd Shift Pre-Production Specialist responsible for conducting various technical aspects of eyewear manufacturing in a fast-paced environment. As a family-owned business with over 80 years of experience, Dr. Tavel provides top quality and affordable eye health services to Indiana families and businesses while delivering outstanding customer service.
As a 2nd Shift Pre-Production Specialist, you will work in the manufacturing lab, responsible for matching lenses and/or frames to patient orders and preparing them for production. You will also be responsible for accurately tracking lens inventory. Attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and speed are crucial in fulfilling our patients' orders while ensuring quality standards are met.

Pay:
Starting at $20.00 per hour
Responsibilities include:
  • Maintain high-quality standards while demonstrating an ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet daily production goals.
  • Recognize and comply with safety procedures and guidelines in a manufacturing environment, including maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lab area, equipment, and tools.
  • Communicate effectively across laboratory departments and teams to ensure a well-coordinated workflow.
  • Maintain flexibility in changing production needs or workflow demands.
  • Utilize an internal system to record product usage and complete regular inventory cycle counts.
  • Matching of lenses and/or frames to patient orders.
  • Removing patient word orders from the internal system, pulling correct products from the stock shelves to match to the work orders, scanning products out of the system to remove from inventory and to maintain accurate counts, delivering work orders to different departments in the lab, restock products on shelves, perform regular cycle counts to update inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds
  • 1+ years of experience in an optical manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment a plus, but not required
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer software systems.
