Job Title: Lab Technician – Precast Concrete

Job Summary

The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting laboratory and field testing of raw materials and precast concrete products to ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and international testing standards such as ASTM or BS. The technician will support the Quality Control team in maintaining consistent concrete quality during production.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory testing of cement, aggregates, admixtures, and concrete mixes according to ASTM / BS standards.
• Perform fresh concrete tests such as slump test, temperature, density, and air content.
• Prepare and test concrete cubes/cylinders for compressive strength.
• Monitor precast production quality and perform required quality checks.
• Maintain proper curing, labeling, and storage of concrete test samples.
• Operate laboratory equipment including compression testing machines, sieves, ovens, and weighing scales.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly test reports and maintain proper documentation.
• Assist the QC Engineer in concrete mix trials and material evaluation.
• Report any non-conformance or quality issues during production.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is clean, calibrated, and properly maintained.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures in the plant and laboratory.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in concrete/precast laboratory testing.
• Good knowledge of ASTM / BS testing standards.
• Experience in concrete cube casting, compressive strength testing, and aggregate testing.
• Ability to prepare accurate laboratory reports.
• Basic computer knowledge (Excel, reporting systems).
• Ability to work in production plant and laboratory environment.

Preferred

• Experience working in precast concrete manufacturing plants.
• Knowledge of concrete mix design and batching plant operations.
• Experience working in the UAE construction industry.
