The Opportunity

Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary law firm with a national reach, is seeking a sophisticated Labor & Employment Counsel to join their Los Angeles office. This is a pivotal role for a senior attorney who possesses a mastery of California’s complex employment landscape and is looking for a platform that rewards high-level independent advocacy and strategic counseling.

This position offers the opportunity to manage high-stakes litigation from inception through resolution while serving as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Litigation Mastery: Lead the defense in single-plaintiff matters (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour) as well as complex PAGA and Class Action suits.

• End-to-End Case Management: Drive cases from initial pleadings and discovery through dispositive motions, taking and defending key depositions of plaintiffs and corporate witnesses.

• Strategic Counseling: Provide expert guidance on federal and state employment laws, helping clients navigate the nuances of California’s regulatory environment.

• Client Advocacy: Act as a lead representative in court and during mediation/arbitration, delivering persuasive oral arguments and strategic legal solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school; strong academic credentials.

• Licensure: Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.

• Experience: 9–12 years of dedicated Labor & Employment experience.

  • Ideal Candidate: Proven track record in high-stakes litigation and a desire to function with a high degree of independence.

• Business Acumen: While not required, a small portable book of business is considered a plus and will be highly valued.

• Core Competencies: Exceptional research and writing skills, seasoned deposition experience, and the ability to mentor junior associates.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $270,000 – $290,000 (commensurate with experience, licensure, and market factors).
