Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist (Part-Time)

Renal Associates, P.C. is a fast-paced specialty medical practice focused on providing high-quality nephrology care. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Lab Assistant with phlebotomy experience to join our clinical team.

This position plays an essential role in supporting patient care by performing phlebotomy, handling laboratory specimens, and assisting with laboratory workflow and quality procedures.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a busy clinical environment, and committed to accuracy and patient safety.

Compensation

Starting at $19.00 per hour (based on experience)

Responsibilities

Phlebotomy & Patient Care

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of varying ages
  • Properly identify patients and label specimens according to laboratory protocols
  • Maintain excellent patient care and professionalism during specimen collection
  • Prepare patients for laboratory testing and explain procedures when appropriate

Specimen Processing & Laboratory Support

  • Process and prepare laboratory specimens for testing and shipment
  • Perform specimen handling including centrifugation, aliquoting, and packaging
  • Maintain specimen integrity and ensure proper storage conditions
  • Prepare samples for send-out testing and coordinate with reference laboratories

Laboratory Operations

  • Assist with daily laboratory workflow and organization
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks such as equipment cleaning, supply stocking, and preparation of collection materials
  • Maintain laboratory logs and documentation as required
  • Assist with quality control procedures and compliance with laboratory policies

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA, CLIA, and infection control standards
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials

QualificationsRequired

  • Phlebotomy experience required
  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory or medical office setting
  • Experience with specimen collection and sample processing
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong communication and patient interaction skills
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred

  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Experience working with laboratory analyzers or specimen processing equipment
  • Previous experience in a specialty clinic or physician office laboratory
