Job Description
GDIT has been supporting the Indian Health Service (IHS) mission for 20+ years; working with the agency to provide integral services to raise health access and availability to 2.6 million American Indians and Alaska Natives. You'll be part of modernizing the Electronic Health Records (EHR) platform to enable better data access, patient experience, and quality of care for 567 tribes, 37 states and over 600 medical facilities.
Our work depends on a Laboratory Informaticist joining our team to support the IHS Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. As a Laboratory Informaticist supporting the IHS EHRM program, you will be responsible for supporting the client for clinical support.
HOW A LABORATORY INFORMATICIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Serving as an expert role model in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings.
Helping design, configure, activate, and support the implementation of Oracle Health EHR (Millennium) solutions at the Indian Health Service.
Mentoring client project teams as necessary in project and system build strategy.
Acting as an experienced consulting professional who has an understanding of solutions, industry best practices, multiple business processes or technology designs within a product/technology family.
Consulting with clients on service line workflows, and guiding them through interdependencies and design decision impacts.
Providing solution oversight, direction and expertise to stakeholders.
Driving client-specific solution configuration design to meet workflow requirements and making recommendations to clients.
Mitigating solution risks and issues.
Executing workflow and process improvement strategies.
Leading client meetings and events.
Working closely with project leadership on documentation of issues and facilitation of solutions.
Analyzing and monitoring workflows, providing documentation and optimization suggestions.
Engaging in evaluation and testing of new technologies.
Maintaining strong communications with project leader, manager, and team leader as well as other team and staff members, end-users, and vendors to ensure a productive and cooperative environment
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
8+ years of experience supporting medium to large IT projects.
Experience in clinical laboratory informatics, health IT systems, or related roles.
Knowledge of Indian Health Service workflows.
Proficiency in Oracle Health EHR (e.g., Cerner Millennium PathNet or similar).
Knowledge of laboratory information systems.
Proficient in Microsoft products.
Enthusiasm for improving clinician and patient experience.
Effectively manage project work, and adhere to agreed upon timelines.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the year, if needed.
SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL:
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance.
