Laboratory Technician - Department of Oral and Craniofacial Molecular Biology - School of Dentistry

Position duties and Responsibilities:

• Setting up and performing experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff
• Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents
• Maintains and orders equipment and supplies
• Helps monitor compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates
• Daily bench work involving advanced lab technical protocols such as Mammalian cell culture, Flow cytometry, and Western blotting
• Independently handling and maintaining advanced instrumentation
• Animal (mouse) experimentation and record keeping

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Immunology
• At least one-year experience in animal (mouse) experimentation and immunological studies
• Analytical skills and problem-solving skills
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge in relevant scientific field, research techniques and methods
• Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures
