Laboratory Technician - Molecular Biology and Microbiology

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and microbiological laboratory techniques. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to biomedical research and development in a dynamic laboratory environment. A CLS certification is not required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform molecular biology (molecular genetic) testing of clinical samples. Including sample management, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, and data management.
• Utilizes various molecular genetic techniques, instrumentation, and disciplines related to PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, and other molecular procedures.
• Participate in experiments designed to validate molecular testing protocols and document performance characteristics of each procedure.
• Performs validation studies to assess performance of new methods
• Maintains laboratory records, archives, assay protocols, and sample or specimen repository sufficient to pass regulatory oversight including CAP and FDA.
• Performs laboratory quality control and assurance activities.
• Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NGS and clinical microbiology. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• A firm understanding of the laws, regulations and guidelines that govern the clinical diagnostic sector, with a willingness to stay up to date with the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, ensuring awareness of the legal obligations and requirements which businesses must adhere to.
• Proven ability to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks while ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem-solve.
• Problem-solving abilities and natural curiosity.
• Digital literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and Internet applications.

Experience:

The successful candidate should possess the followings:

• Bachelor's degree in a natural science field with >1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated experience with nucleic acid purification, PCR, NGS technologies, DNA & RNA library preparation, and molecular bench techniques
• Experience in ensuring and maintaining the integrity and quality of the laboratory in the areas of sample processing, equipment maintenance, and SOPs
• Motivated to work independently and within a team environment
• Willing to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
• Attention to detail and critical thinker
• Familiarity with research development processes
