Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory/ Technical Assistant for the Abraira Lab within the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). Under general guidance and direction, this Laboratory/Technical Assistant position exists to provide basic level laboratory and technical support, involving the application of scientific research methods and techniques, specifically in the study of somatosensory circuit analysis in preclinical animal models.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Ensures accurate completion of routine laboratory procedures and experiments following established protocols.
- Performs multistage purifications, assays, and tests; prepares tissues, chemicals, and specimens; maintains laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Maintains mouse colonies with accurate records.
- Assists with mouse colony management, breeding, genotyping, and animal husbandry tasks under supervision.
- Ensures accurate data collection from behavioral experiments.
- Conducts standardized mouse behavioral tests following established protocols; records and organize behavioral data.
- Organizes accurate data ready for analysis.
- Enters experimental data into databases, organizes files, prepares basic summaries and charts under direction.
- Cleans, organizes, and stocks laboratory space.
- Maintains laboratory organization, cleans equipment, orders supplies, ensures compliance with safety protocols.
