Laborer

Overview

The laborer is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the concrete plant, which includes tasks like maintaining equipment, cleaning the yard, and loading and unloading materials.

Roles & Responsibilities

Equipment maintenance and repair: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, including front-end loaders and mixers. Report any major mechanical problems to the supervisor.

Yard and plant cleaning: Keep the yard and plant area clean and organized, including loading and unloading materials and managing concrete residue.

Material handling: Safely load and unload materials and equipment, sometimes using hydraulic lifting equipment like forklifts or front-end loaders.

Safety and compliance: Follow all safety rules, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.

Operational support: Assist with the overall production process, including loading aggregate into ready-mix trucks and performing minor facility maintenance.

Physical ability: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs, and demonstrate stamina for standing, walking, and working in various weather conditions.

Safety awareness: A strong commitment to safety is crucial. This includes the ability to follow all safety regulations and procedures.

Teamwork and communication: Must be able to work effectively with a team, follow instructions accurately, and communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers.

Work ethic: A strong work ethic, good attendance, and a self-starting attitude are highly valued.
