LAN Administrator

To install, administer and support the company’s LAN, WAN and related IT infrastructure (servers, networks, CCTV, telephony and security systems) across head office, branches, barges, dredgers and site offices, ensuring high availability, performance and security of all systems and services

Key Responsibilities

Network, Server and Systems Administration

  • Install, configure and maintain Windows servers, file servers, and computer systems for head office and all branch / site locations.​
  • Install, manage and maintain LAN / WAN network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless equipment and structured cabling in office, site offices, yards, barges and dredgers.
  • Configure and administer network services such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and TCP/IP, ensuring reliable connectivity and access control.​
  • Manage server and network security including user accounts, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, and system integrity.​
  • Monitor utilization and performance of servers and networks, identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.​

CCTV, PABX and Voice Infrastructure

  • Install, configure and maintain CCTV systems across office, site offices, barges, dredgers and yards, including cameras, NVRs/DVRs, storage and network connectivity.
  • Perform network and voice wiring for offices and sites, ensuring proper labeling, documentation and compliance with standards.
  • Install, configure and maintain PABX/IP-PBX telephone systems, extensions, voicemail and related peripherals.
  • Coordinate with vendors for CCTV and telephony-related upgrades, expansions and troubleshooting when required.

Firewall, Security and Internet Access

  • Administer and maintain FortiGate and other firewalls, including policies, VPNs, NAT, web filtering and intrusion prevention.
  • Plan and implement network security controls for internal and external systems, including perimeter security, host security and endpoint protection.​
  • Install and manage antivirus/endpoint security solutions and ensure regular updates and scans.​

Desktop and User Support

  • Provide desktop support for users, including hardware, operating systems, standard applications, email and printing issues.
  • Investigate user problems, identify root causes, propose solutions, test and implement fixes in a timely manner.​
  • Perform and/or oversee software installation and upgrades on client machines and servers.​
  • Conduct basic user orientation and training on IT systems, security awareness (including spam and phishing) and company IT policies.​

Procurement, Tenders and Documentation

  • Evaluate and recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, CCTV equipment, telephony, peripheral devices and software based on business needs and standards.​
  • Participate in IT tender preparation: obtain quotations, prepare price sheets, perform technical and price comparisons and support management in selecting suitable solutions (non‑contractual aspects).
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date documentation for network topology, server configurations, IP addressing, firewall policies, CCTV layouts and PABX configurations.
  • Establish and perform preventive maintenance programs for IT equipment and systems according to company and vendor standards.​

Solutions and Continuous Improvement

  • Propose suitable IT solutions and improvements that enhance reliability, security and efficiency of operations.
  • Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime.​
  • Investigate, recommend and implement enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system and network availability.​
  • Maintain confidentiality of business and personal data processed, stored or accessed through company systems

Pay: QAR5,000.00 - QAR6,000.00 per month
