Job Summary

The Land Surveyor is responsible for conducting land and construction surveys to establish property boundaries, site layouts, levels, and control points. The role ensures that construction activities are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements while maintaining accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction surveys.
  • Establish horizontal and vertical control points for construction activities.
  • Set out buildings, roads, utilities, foundations, and structural elements according to engineering drawings.
  • Verify dimensions, elevations, alignments, and coordinates during construction.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as Total Station, GPS/GNSS receivers, digital levels, drones (if applicable), and other survey instruments.
  • Prepare survey reports, calculations, sketches, maps, and as-built drawings.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors regarding survey requirements.
  • Ensure survey data accuracy and resolve discrepancies before construction proceeds.
  • Monitor settlement, deformation, and structural movement when required.
  • Maintain proper calibration and care of surveying equipment.
  • Follow company safety policies and ensure surveying activities comply with HSE requirements.
  • Maintain records of survey data, field notes, and project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification or surveyor license (where required) is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3–7 years of surveying experience in building, infrastructure, or civil construction projects.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Total Station, Auto Level, GPS/GNSS, and laser surveying equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and surveying software.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, site plans, and construction specifications.
  • Good understanding of coordinate systems, leveling, traversing, and survey computations.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and construction standards.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily field-based with occasional office work.

  • Willingness to travel between project locations as required.
