Position Summary :

As a Landman , you will be responsible for performing all necessary duties and responsibilities related to land contracts, mineral and surface title, surface and subsurface projects, due diligence related to acquisitions and divestitures, along with playing a crucial role in development activities.

This role reports to the Permian Land Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead/coordinate/supervise the securing of surface title work, including title, curative, agreements and securing of surface locations for active development program
  • Direct and supervise field personnel such as land brokers, surveyors and other consultants in completing projects such as lease acquisition, title/abstract work, damage settlements, ROW acquisition, etc. with a heightened focus on surface activities
  • Negotiate, draft, analyze, and interpret various land contracts, including but not limited to, Operating Agreements, Oil and Gas Leases, ROWs, Farmouts, AMI/Exploration Agreements, Trade Agreements, Seismic Options, PSAs, Letter Agreements, Surface Use Agreement, Pooling Agreements, Damage Settlements, etc.
  • Coordinate/perform/supervise the securing of mineral title work, including abstracts, title opinions and associated title curative
  • Negotiate, procure mineral leases and surface agreements with Tribal, Federal, Fee and State owners
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of land management, negotiations, relationships and communication
  • Strong skills and sense of partnership and community/stakeholder relationships
  • Represent the Company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances that may arise during negotiations with landowners and business activities with regulatory agencies
  • Coordinate/supervise/perform pre and post-acquisition or sale due diligence/title work
  • Acquire mineral leases, drill sites, easements, surface leases, access roads, frac pits, water use and other rights as needed for drilling and production activities; Tribal, Federal, State and Fee owners
  • Efficient and effective communication internally and externally regarding ongoing projects, prospects, timeline strategy, etc.
  • Serve as company liaison with landowners, local, county, state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Accountable for strong collaboration/leadership between office and field office interdepartmental teams.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Petroleum Land Management or related, preferred
  • RPL/CPL preferred
  • Strong experience leading and directing field personnel (i.e. land brokers, surveyors, consultants, operations-field land team) in active development area, both surface and minerals, required
  • Proven process focused individual with experience with implementation of value/effective/efficient processes within and across interdepartmental Teams, required
  • Excellent stakeholder awareness, communication, relationship, and organizational skills, required
  • Superior ability to be a “Team Player” and efficiently and effectively drive Team, department and corporate strategic goals and initiatives, required
