Position responsible for providing general clerical and technical support to the Deed and Cartography Section, as well as customer service support to the Assessor’s Office. Duties include but are not limited to, conducting research to verify ownership, location, and boundaries of real property; ensuring completeness and accuracy of assessment records; entering information into a computerized data base; updating various records and files; assembling property files; and providing clerical support such as completing customer transactions, information retrieval and general clerical office assistance. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED equivalent; two years of clerical and research experience in a customer service oriented office environment dealing with real property transactions such as local government, title companies, or real estate sales organizations. Working knowledge of basic taxation and real property recording laws; knowledge in reading and interpreting legal descriptions and legal documents; good working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; sufficient mathematics skills to compute decimals, fractions, present value, and property dimensions and size. Ability to proficiently and accurately enter technical data using computerized data base programs, required; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to explain appraisal processes to lay people; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other employees at all times.

Necessary Special Requirements

Possession of/or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver’s License within 30 days of hire date, if applicable to position. The employment offer will be contingent upon an acceptable and verifiable driver’s license and driving history.

FINAL CANDIDATE SELECTED FOR POSITION MAY BE REQUIRED TO PASS A DRUG SCREENING AND A THOROUGH EMPLOYMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY INVESTIGATION.
