Landscape Architect / designer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Designer / Sales Coordinator to work directly under our Landscape Architect and serve as a critical link between design, estimating, sales, and production.

This role ensures that great design becomes great execution. You will translate conceptual designs into accurate scopes, detailed takeoffs, realistic budgets, and production-ready documentation. You will also support client interactions and maintain continuity from sales through construction.

This is not a drafting-only position. It is a design-build coordination role with direct impact on profitability, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Constructability

  • Collaborate with the Landscape Architect to refine designs for construction
  • Review plans for clarity, scope completeness, and buildability
  • Assist with material selections aligned with budget and production realities
  • Translate design drawings into clear, executable scopes of work

Takeoffs & Estimating

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs from approved designs
  • Coordinate with estimating staff to develop accurate project budgets
  • Identify scope gaps, assumptions, and risk areas prior to proposal submission
  • Participate in pre-construction planning meetings

Client & Sales Support

  • Attend client meetings alongside the Landscape Architect as needed
  • Assist in presenting scope, design intent, and budget rationale
  • Support proposal development and revisions
  • Provide continuity between the sales/design phase and production handoff
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with clients

Production Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers and field leadership
  • Clarify scope, materials, and sequencing during construction
  • Support issue resolution related to design interpretation
  • Help minimize rework through proactive coordination

Process & Documentation

  • Maintain organized documentation standards for designs and estimates
  • Participate in post-project reviews
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design-to-build workflows

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in landscape design, design-build coordination, estimating, or related field
  • Strong understanding of residential landscape construction methods and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and translate them into scopes and quantities
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communicator comfortable working across departments
  • Professional demeanor when working with high-expectation clientele
  • Ability to learn and engage with CAD-based software platforms (AutoCAD, Structure Studios, etc.)

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or related field
  • Experience with takeoff, estimating, or project management software
  • Experience in high-end residential or custom construction projects

Compensation & Benefits
